City Fertility, Rainbow Fertility and Fertility Specialists of WA are proud to partner with Addam Donor Bank to provide patients with access to a diverse range of donor sperm options.

Through Addam Donor Bank’s partnership with Seattle Sperm Bank, patients can access donors from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities who have undergone comprehensive screening and meet relevant Australian requirements.

Throughout your donor journey, you will be supported by your treating fertility specialist, clinic team and Addam Donor Bank, who will guide you through the required steps before treatment.

Reserving Your Donor

The Addam Donor Bank website displays all donors currently available for reservation.

A donor is only officially allocated once a donor request has been submitted through the Addam Donor Bank website or app and confirmed as a successful reservation by the Addam Donor Bank team.

Donors reserved per vial on Addam Donor Bank are not subject to international shipping fees. Only the applicable shipment fee from the central storage location to your treating clinic will apply. Patients may reserve a maximum of two vials at a time.

Seattle Sperm Bank family package donors are held at Seattle Sperm Bank and are subject to additional shipping fees. During the reservation process, the Addam Donor Bank team will confirm the applicable family package cost and shipping fee before proceeding.

Addam Donor Bank: The full process to becoming a recipient

1.      Book an appointment

Book an appointment with a fertility specialist at City Fertility, Rainbow Fertility or Fertility Specialists of WA through the relevant brand’s Fertility Advice Centre or via Addam Donor Bank.

2.  Attend your appointment with a City Fertility, Rainbow Fertility and FSWA fertility specialist.

Attend your appointment with a fertility specialist from City Fertility, Rainbow Fertility or Fertility Specialists of WA. Your fertility specialist will discuss your goals, review your medical history and recommend a personalised treatment pathway.

3.      Obtain your treatment plan

Your specialist will provide a treatment plan tailored to your circumstances.

4.      Complete clinic registration

Your clinic’s Patient Services team will provide your clinic registration link.

5.      Undertake Extended Carrier Screening (ECS)

If you want to select a donor who is a positive carrier of a genetic condition, you will be required to complete Expanded Carrier Screening (ECS) or genetic counselling before proceeding, with our partners Eugene. Your fertility specialist or nursing teams can order this test for you, or you can order it from Eugene here.

If you choose not to complete ECS, you must confirm that an ECS waiver has been signed with your fertility specialist and uploaded to your patient file before you are able to request a donor.

Addam Donor Bank strongly recommend that patients complete either expanded carrier screening or genetic counselling to understand their selected donor’s carrier status. This can be organised by your treating specialist.

6.      Confirm your superannuation release (if applicable)

If you intend to use superannuation to fund treatment, ensure your release has been approved before progressing to request a donor.

7.      Select and request your donor

Once your clinic confirms you are Donor Ready, you can select your preferred donors and submit your donor request through the Addam Donor Bank website or app.

International donor sperm is identified under Origin as ‘Overseas’. SSB family packages are identified under Origin as ‘Overseas – SSB Family Package’.

8.      Complete your pathology screenings

Your fertility specialist will provide pathology forms for required screenings. Please complete these promptly an ensure your results are uploaded to your patient file.

9.      Attend your counselling sessions

Australian law requires all donor sperm recipients to complete two counselling sessions with an ANZICA-accredited counsellor. This will allow you to explore the implications of using donor sperm, including future considerations for you and your family.

10.  Commence treatment

Once all steps are complete and your donor sperm has arrived at your clinic, you can proceed with treatment.
